"How to Read" by (and probably only for) Nickles

In the recently renewed quest to soak in the written word as often as situationally possible, I have refined my thinking on the subject. I used to be baffled by the volume of pages to a book. I was encouraged to overcome this mild fear, and dive in, seeing the reward at the last page.

Now the following is hardly an innovative technique, and some will surely scoff at the immaturity of not being able to overcome a seemingly simple issue, but its an awakening for me to the simpler tactics of reading.

Unknowingly at the time, (that is, until taking a step back and looking from the outside) I got myself into the habit of using a paperclip, cleverly twisted as to not rip the pages when moved about the pages, and "sectioning off" the proceeding chapter. Thus, instead of being overwhelmed by the total number of pages left to read until I reached the credits, since I have yet to kick the habit of unconsciously attending to the "goal", I had only to attend to the few pages left in the grips of my friendly contortioned paperclip.

I hate that I focus on the remaining task, instead of enjoying page by page. But now, I have unknowingly developed a partial, progressive step to remedy my obsessiveness.
